Mohammad Hossein Hosseini is a 26-year-old footballer from Mashhad.
He was arrested during Iran’s National Uprising in January 2026.
According to reports, after being transferred to Vakilabad Prison in Mashhad, he was repeatedly moved between prison and security detention centers.
Human rights groups reported that he was subjected to pressure, torture, and attempts to extract forced confessions.
Reports also indicated that he was at risk of receiving a death sentence under charges related to moharebeh ("enmity against God").
He was reportedly released temporarily on bail.
