Prince Reza Pahlavi's Message to the President of Colombia on Severing Diplomatic Relations with the Islamic Republic

In a message to Colombian President Abelardo de la Espriella, Prince Reza Pahlavi thanked Colombia for its decision to sever diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic, and expressed his hope that a free Iran and Colombia will one day build an enduring friendship based on shared values.

Dear President De La Espriella,

The Iranian people thank you and the people of Colombia for your principled decision to sever diplomatic relations with the Islamic Republic.

Colombia has taken a clear stand against the Islamic Republic’s terrorism, transnational crime and systematic violations of human rights.The Iranian people will remember those who stood with them in their struggle for freedom.

I look forward to the day when a free Iran and Colombia can build a strong and enduring friendship based on our shared values of freedom, security and democracy.
