I am deeply moved and saddened by the passing of His Majesty Harald V, King of Norway.

For more than three decades, King Harald served the people of Norway and his country with a deep sense of responsibility, dignity and unwavering commitment. In moments of joy and celebration, as well as in days of profound national grief, he was an enduring and unifying presence, a symbol of continuity and of service to the nation.

I extend my sincere condolences to His Majesty Haakon VIII, Her Majesty Queen Sonja, the Royal Family and the people of Norway, who are mourning their beloved King.

King Harald's kindness, humanitarianism and a lifetime of service to his nation will leave behind an enduring legacy. His name and memory will be cherished by generations to come.
