Full Text of the Message (translated from Persian)

Fellow countrymen,

Once again, by raising the price of petrol, the Islamic Republic has placed the cost of its incompetence, corruption and warmongering on the shoulders of the Iranian people.

As I said in my message of 31 Mordad (August 22), raising fuel prices at a time when the people are under heavy economic pressure is a cruel act and a betrayal of the Iranian nation.

To the Zahhak-like regime and its missing leader I say: the poverty and economic pressure you have imposed on the Iranian people are the direct result of your destructive policies. The country's resources belong to the Iranian people, not to fill the pockets of the mafias, and not to finance terrorism and warmongering. Return the nation's plundered wealth and cut off your support for terrorists.

Do not imagine that by killing tens of thousands of patriots you have managed to break the will of the nation. The fire of the people's anger and protest has not gone out. A nation that has stood up for freedom, prosperity and a better future will not stay silent in the face of repression, corruption, incompetence and the imposition of poverty.

Long live Iran,
Reza Pahlavi
